Applications of Raman Spectroscopy

Raman Spectroscopy is an extremely versatile technique with applications across a broad range of industries. Raman provides information on organic and many inorganic materials. Raman is most often applied to qualitative applications where characterization of a sample is the desired goal, however Raman can also provide quantitative information. There are Raman instruments designed for efficient analysis of bulk samples as well as Raman instruments specifically designed to look at small samples. Raman microscopes are used to  routinely characterize samples as small as 1 µm.

The versatility of the technique is one of the really exciting things about Raman spectroscopy. Look at the tables below to see what people in your field are using Raman spectroscopy for and to see the winners of  Thermo Fisher Scientific’s weekly application contest. If you have applications of your own that you would like to enter into the contest or just to share with others submit them here.

Winning Applications Details

Congratulations to this week’s winner, Don R. Larson, of Rock Springs, WY. See his application on Carbon Nanotube Classification below. Don will receive a Stainless Steel Caffeine Molecule Mug for his entry. You could win too. Enter today!

Entries for this week must be submitted by Friday, 3:00 PM (Central Standard Time ). Submit your idea here.
